Barabar Hill in Jehanabad, Bihar, is renowned for its ancient rock-cut caves, some of the oldest in India, dating back to the Mauryan period. These caves, carved from granite, served as meditation spots for monks of the Ajivika sect and later became a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims. During the Shravani Mela, a month-long festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, Barabar Hill and the surrounding area become particularly vibrant, attracting a large number of devotees who come to offer prayers and seek blessings. The festival transforms the region into a lively hub with temporary markets, food stalls, and religious gatherings, offering a unique cultural experience alongside the historical significance of the Barabar Caves.
